The Demand for Human Resources in the Legal Sector in Dong Nai Is Very High

In Dong Nai, a key economic region in the Southern region with 32 industrial parks that have been put into stable operation, more than 1,900 projects have been attracted to date, including approximately 1,400 foreign direct investment projects. Long Thanh International Airport is currently under construction, which will contribute to promoting strong trade activities among domestic and foreign enterprises in the near future; therefore, the demand for human resources in the legal sector is very high. According to the Dong Nai Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, employment in the legal field is among the top eight occupations with the highest recruitment demand in Dong Nai in 2023.

Moreover, the demand for legal professionals in Binh Duong and Ba Ria – Vung Tau, which are part of the industrial quadrangle of the Southeast region, is also very high; however, approximately 90% of the workforce in this field comes from other provinces and cities. This presents an advantage for training legal human resources at Lac Hong University to supply personnel to these areas.

The Necessity of the Law Program in Higher Education

According to information from the Ministry of Justice, as of the end of 2023, Vietnam had more than 17,317 lawyers and 4,957 judges, with 567,521 cases handled, of which 504,618 cases were resolved (achieving a rate of 88.9%, 7.7% higher than the previous year). In addition, the demand for high-quality legal officers in ministries, sectors, and local authorities at all levels in our country is increasing.

In practice, our country trains approximately 4,000 to 5,000 law graduates each year; however, there remains an overall shortage of human resources compared to societal demand, especially personnel with in-depth legal expertise and foreign language proficiency.

Currently, there are nearly 20 job positions that, according to regulations, require a Bachelor of Law degree, including: Notary, Lawyer, Legal Aid Officer, Judge, Court Clerk, Prosecutor, Bankruptcy Trustee, and others.

The Training Process of the Law Program at the University

In order to train Law graduates with political integrity, professional ethics, and good health; with fundamental legal knowledge, practical understanding of the legal system in Vietnam, and knowledge of politics, economics, society, and culture related to the legal field based on economic knowledge, Lac Hong University has carefully and systematically prepared facilities, the training program, and the teaching staff.

The University has designed and developed the training program based on the framework program uniformly issued by the Ministry of Education and Training. The duration of study at the University is 3.5 years. The program aims to equip students with the following knowledge and skills:

• Professionally perform legal activities at agencies, organizations, and enterprises;

• Become experts and managers in the legal field;

• Become the best version of themselves through the ability to research and practice law.

After graduation, students may undertake positions at:

• Legal agencies, judicial agencies, state authorities, and public service units (human resources, administration, inspection, legal departments);

• Enterprises (human resources, administration, inspection, legal departments);

• Educational institutions (research and teaching in law).
